2016 Practice-a-thon, Fundraiser for The Academy of Music for the Blind

Students of all ages and instruments may participate by recording their practice hours and pledges during any consecutive 15-day period until April 1, 2016. At the end of the Practice-a-thon, students will add up their total hours practiced to the nearest 1⁄4 hour.

The Academy of Music for the Blind ( is a “non-profit school of music founded by Director David Pinto whose vision is to provide a comprehensive music education to musically talented blind. AMB has been serving talented blind students for over 11 years, and is the only year-round music school in America solely dedicated to educating the blind and visually impaired. They are an all-day, all-year-long Saturday program that provides comprehensive music education to talented blind students ages 4-19 from LA, Riverside, The Valley, and Orange County. AMB strives to empower their students to give back to the community through musical talents.” 80% of the money raised during the Practice-a-thon will go towards helping AMB’s scholarship program fund 20 students annually for them to receive a top notch adaptive music education at AMB.

In addition, 15% of the money raised will go towards prizes and expenses that MSSL encounters, and 5% will go towards the MTAC foundation.

Participating students will be divided into age groups. Prizes will be awarded to the student who, in his or her age group, practices the most total hours or has the most individual sponsors (not the total dollar amount). Additional prizes may be awarded depending on the level of project participation.
